
Benton, Ark. -First Electric Cooperatives presented $1500 to CADC (Central Arkansas Development Council). Larry Cogburn, Executive Director of CADC accepted the donation on behalf of CADC on July 19. Funding will be used to support the Saline County Single Parent Scholarship Fund, which can be used to offset emergencies such as child care, car repair, fuel, books, and tuition not covered by other sources. Scholarships are awarded to single parents pursuing a career-oriented course of study to ensure a better standard of living for his or her family.
The funding will also be used to support the Bryant Senior Activity center. The Activity Centers give older adults support and encouragement to reach new levels of independence, fostering educational and emotional wellness for persons 60 and older. Activities include meals for seniors, exercise, social interaction, nutrition, transportation services, recreational events, book clubs, computer training, and more.
